A funeral Mass for Monica Dukart, 96, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Ojedeji celebrating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for Monica will be from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. , Monday, January 2, 2017 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 4:00 p. m. Monica passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Dickinson. Monica was born October 5, 1920 in Richardton, ND, to Peter and Ottila (Gieser) Geiger. She attended Wild Rose School in Dunn County in the Hirschville area. Monica married Xavier Dukart on June 19, 1946 in Dickinson, ND. To this union four children were born, Gerald, Dwight, Lucy and Xavier. Together they farmed and ranched, along with raising their children. After the death of Xavier at the age of 46, Monica and the children moved to Dickinson where she made her home since. Monica began working at Service Drug and later White Drug as a pharmacy tech. At the age of 75 she decided it was time to retire. Monica worked part time at Kim’s Daycare before moving to Park Avenue Villa. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, crocheting and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Alter Society. Monica washed the church linens for many years. She especially loved family reunions and getting together with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Monica is survived by her sons, Gerald (Sally) Dukart; Dwight Dukart (special friend, Connie Lindbo), and Xavier (Karen) Dukart, all of Dickinson; daughter, Lucy (Wayne) Heintz of Grand Forks; 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Carney, Casey Dukart, Claire (Jeff) Fontaine, Rachael (Joey) Gunwall, Sara (Andrew) Castle, Ryan (Samantha) Dukart; 8 great-grandchildren, Mason, Zachary, Katie, Madison, Emery, Jack, Gavin, Rylee, and another, Xavier, due in March; brother, Leonard Geiger, Atlanta, GA; sister, Florence (Joe) Pasicznyk of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Barbara Geiger of McKinney, TX. Monica was preceded in death by her husband, Xavier; parents, Peter and Ottilia Geiger; brothers, Joseph, Henry, Peter, Leo, Anthony, and Francis Geiger; sister, Elizabeth (John) Dukart.
