Monroe Chase

Graveside Services for Monroe E. Chase, 79, of Mandan formerly of Hebron will be 10:00 a. m. , CST, Monday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Burial will be with Military Rites will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Monroe passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Med Center One Care Center in Mandan. Monroe Chase was born on June 8, 1931 in Richardton, ND to Herbert Ezekiel Hankerson Chase and Anna Schiermeister Chase. He grew up and graduated from Sheyenne River Academy in 1949 in Harvey, ND. Monroe married Annette Lozensky on March 25, 1950. They were married for 19 years. Monroe was inducted in the US Army in January 1957 and was discharged January 1959. While in the Army he was stationed in Fredrick, MD. After Monroe?s discharge, Moroe and Annette returned to Hebron, ND. Monroe?s occupation consisted of Farming and caterpillar contract work until going into the aviation business as an aerial applicator, as well as aviation sales. The aviation business began on the Chase farm when Monroe and brother, Bob Chase, and their father, Herbert Chase purchased a Luscombe airplane together in 1950. The Chase Aviation Business was operated at the farm until it was move to Mandan, ND in 1962. Monroe Married Eleanor Kearns form Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada in 2003. They were married for three years but continued a long term, caring relationship for over 20 years. Monroe was a very accomplished pilot and logged in over 21,000 hours in the air. Monroe is survive by his children: Cynthia Lee Chase (Steve) Heupel, Auburn, WA, Monte Donovan (Grace) Chase, Mandan, ND; Grandchildren: Weston (Laura) Heupel, Tacoma, WA, Malea Heupel (Chad) Hoffman, Enumclaw, WA, Linsey Heupel (Gilbert), Robles Puyallup, WA, Mari Heupel and Haley Heupel, Auburn, WA, Scott (Jennifer) Chase, Bismarck, ND. Nathan Chase, Bismarck, ND, Becky Silbernagel, Sindey, NE; Great-Grandchildren: Ceil, Thad, Willem, and Xavier Heupel, Oliver and Lincoln Robels, Jordyn Chase, Jake, Mercedes Corbin and Lilly Anna Chase. Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Monica Chase, 1992; a grandson, Christopher Chase, 1997; and a brother, Robert Chase, 1998.
