Funeral Services for Nancy Kathryn Granvold, 96 of Dickinson are 4:00 p. m. Monday, October 25, 2004 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses in Dickinson with Mr. Judd Winter, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2004 from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. and on Monday from 9:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to service time at the Kingdom Hall. Nancy passed away Friday, October 22, 2004 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. She was born September 12, 1908 at Tazewell County, Tennessee. She attended school through the eighth grade in Ohio and Michigan. Nancy was an avid reader and read books to neighbors. She also sang in outdoor plays that they had at that time. In May of 1924 she was married to Melvin Darrell Loar. Seven children were born to this union. Nancy and Melvin lived in various places around Jackson and Jerome Michigan. Melvin passed away in January of 1952. Nancy was married to Conrad Bernard Granvold on March 29, 1954 at Jackson, Michigan. They moved to Plentywood, MT where they lived for forty years. Nancy and Conrad enjoyed square dancing until they were in their 70?s and enjoyed traveling until they were in their 80?s. Conrad passed away on June 24, 1994. At that time Nancy moved to Dickinson to live with her daughter, Nancy Carol Snyder. On June 6, 2003 she became a resident of St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson where she lived until the time of her death. Nancy loved crossword puzzles, flowers and working in the garden. The main focus of her life since her baptism in 1953 was being an active praiser of God?s name. She talked to people about the hope for the future by God?s Kingdom to people everywhere she went. Even when she became housebound, she made sure everyone who came to see her knew about the Bible?s hope for all mankind. Their neighbors in Plentywood, MT were used to seeing her walk around their town regularly praising God?s name. Her hope of the resurrection gave her great comfort and she knew she?d see her loved ones in Paradise. John 5: 28,29 was a scripture she used to share with others. Survivors include a son, David M. (Velva) Loar of Hopkinsville, KY; three daughters: Nancy Carol Snyder of Dickinson, Anita (Milton) Vreeland of Lakeland, FL and Pearl (Wilford) Pfund of Midland, MI; fourteen grandchildren thirty four great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: James. D. Loar and an infant son; a daughter, Mary Ann who died at 18 months; three brothers and two sisters.
