Funeral Service for Nancy Holly, 95, of Ekalaka, MT, will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, December 19, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT with Pastor Steve DeFord officiating. Burial will be in the Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka. Visitation for Nancy will be from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. , Friday, December 19, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Ekalaka. Nancy passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 with her great-niece, Blake Willson at her side. Nancy was born October 24, 1919 the daughter of Walter and Iva (Turner) Kortum. She grew up and attended the Bradshaw Country School through the 8th grade, graduating from Carter County High School in 1938. On June 15, 1938, Nancy and Clayton Holly were united in marriage. Together they worked on cattle ranches on Rosebud Creek, near Forsyth, MT. In September of 1948 they purchased the Ekalaka Hotel which they operated for 18 ½ years. In February of 1957 they adopted Charles who was four years of age. In October of 1968, Nancy divorced her husband and moved to Miles City, MT with Charles. While living there, Nancy earned an associate’s degree from Miles Community College. In the late 1970’s she moved back to Ekalaka, becoming one of the first residents of Carter Manor where she resided for the next 30+ years. Nancy enjoyed quilting and made many afghans for her nieces and nephews. She loved to attend horse races, play cards, and do crossword puzzles. Nancy wrote and put together a family history book titled “Remembering. ” Her biggest enjoyment was attending The Pup Town Invitational Roping where she always purchased a team in the calcutta, often winning the purse. Nancy was survived by special nephews Joe (Carole) Carey of Ekalaka, MT, Dennis (Ande) Kortum of Ekalaka, MT, and Bobby Willson of Miles City, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles; brothers, Buddy Kortum and Joe Kortum; sisters, Doris Willson and Mildred Carey; and two infant siblings, Helen and Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to a charity of your choice.
