Funeral Mass for Nathan A. Kessel, 22, of Belfield, ND will be 2:00 p. m. Thursday, June 1, 2006 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, ND with Father Shannon Lucht officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Belfield. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 8:00 a. m. to 4:00 p. m. at Stevenson Mischel-Olson Chapel continuing from 5:00 p. m. – 9:00 p. m. at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church. A Rosary and Vigil Service will be 7:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. Nathan passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2006 at his home in Belfield, ND after a lengthy illness. Nathan Alan Kessel was born on September 29, 1983 the son of Charles and Leona (Binstock) Kessel in Dickinson, North Dakota. He grew up and attended schools in Belfield graduating from the Belfield High School in 2002. Nathan participated in drama activities while in high school. He especially enjoyed writing poems and had two of his poems published. Nathan enjoyed trains and had a H. O. train set layout in his basement which he spent many hours building. He also enjoyed working and restoring his 56 Ford Fairlane. Nathan accomplished placing a new motor and transmission in his car and was able to enjoy driving it for several years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks and jokes on his family. Nathan was very proud of his country and was very patriotic. Whenever time permitted he would watch NASCAR and always looked for Dale Ernhardt Jr. , his favorite driver. He was a member of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield, NDSurvivors include, his parents, Charles and Leon Kessel, Belfield; a sister, Nicole Kessel and her daughter, Kamea, Mandan, ND; two brothers, Chad Kessel and his son, Mason and C. J. (Dawn) Kessel and their daughter, Allyssia, Denver, CO; his grandmother, Mildred (Kessel) Talkington, Belfield; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phillip Kessel and Peter & Mary Eva Binstock and several uncles and aunts. The family has established a memorial for the Neurofibromatosis Foundation in memory of Nathan: Neurofibromatosis, Inc, 8855 Annapolis Road, Suite 110, Lanham, MD 20706-2924.
