Neale passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer, ND. Neale Hartman was born April 3, 1930 to Norval and Muriel (Hayden) Hartman. He married Mary Fettig and they spent their life ranching north of Grassy Butte after working in the oilfield in Tioga. Every day of his life on the ranch was spent doing what he loved and no matter the circumstance he was content. If ever a neighbor or stranger were in distress, a simple call and he was there to help. Still riding horse at 77 he took a nasty spill that left a fractured leg although it was not bad enough that he consented to go to the doctor. True to his word to all his children if they took a spill, “You have to get back on”, he spent a couple more years riding. He will be remembered as being always humble, kind, wise, gracious and generous to a fault. Though he claimed he did not like to visit, he would tell stories for hours on end. Even when his macular degeneration caused him to quit driving and he chose to move into Hill Top Home two years ago, he was content. He loved everyone who took care of him and would tell all his visitors how much he loved it there. He said, “Happiness is no stress. “Since the day Mary passed away he has been ready to join her as soon as it was his time and he received his last wish, to just go to sleep. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; infant sister (Shirley); son-in-law (Charlie); sister, (Darlene Schwahn). He is survived by his son, Ron (Cindy) Hartman; daughters, Yvonne Baze, Candyce (Bob) Kleemann, Cheryl Rafferty and Jo (Ken) Rooks; sister, Beverly Mittlestadt, and brother-in-law, Norbert Schwahn. Neale has 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
