In 1937, he came back to Belfield and purchased his parent?s homestead in Stark County, as well as worked for the National Public Administration working highway construction. On November 12, 1940, Nick married the love of his life, Mary Cerkoney in Ukrainia, ND. They then moved to his homestead 10 miles north of Belfield.
