Funeral Mass for Nicholas “Nick” Reinert, 83, of Dickinson will be 10:00 am Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Robert Shea celebrating. Burial will follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Mott.

Visitation for Nick will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil beginning at 6:00 pm.

Nick passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at his home in Dickinson.

Nicholas Simon (Nick) was born on December 17, 1941, on the family farm in Hettinger County, Northeast of Mott. He was the first son born to Nicholas J. and Catherine Frank Reinert.

He was raised on the farm, graduated from Mott High School in 1960, and shortly thereafter joined the Navy where he served until 1964.

In 1968 he graduated from NDSSS in Wahpeton, ND with his degree as a certified welder. He worked for Welk Steel in Mandan, Nicks Plumbing and Heating, and then was hired by Kolling Construction as their first welder. He helped with welding for both the Woolworth Store and Ponderosa Liquors.

In 1971, he moved back to the family farm and was proud to say that he now sleeps in the same room he was born in.

He married Loretta Jahner in June of 1966, and they had 4 children together. They retired in 2008 and moved to Dickinson.

Nick was a member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a member of 40 and 8, and the Moose Club of Dickinson.

Nick enjoyed reading, watching Old Western movies and playing an occasional card game.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Loretta; his sons Charles of Hinesville, GA; Michael (Lisa) of Prescott Valley, AZ; Nicholas (Heidi) of Colorado Springs, CO; and his daughter Rebecca (Brian) of Houston, MO. He is survived by 12 grandchildren: Renee, Alexander, Delaney, Samantha, Zachary, Krystalyn, Nicholas (Maddy), Isabella, Christopher, Katrina, Shelby and Johnathon and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his three sisters Mildred (Nick) Wegh, Kathleen (James) Brewster, and Sister Agnes; and his two brothers John (Patty) and Ernie (Carol).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Catherine Reinert.
