Funeral Mass for Nick A. Rettinger, 89 of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in New England with Father Basil Atwell, OSB celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in New England. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2006 from 10:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service held at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson. Nick passed away Monday, January 30, 2006 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Nick A. Rettinger was born February 25, 1916, on the family farm east of New England, the son of Mary (Blum) and Josef Rettinger. He attended school and graduated from St. Mary?s High School in New England. After graduation, he went to Mansfield, Ohio, where he studied to become an electrician. Nick returned to New England where he met and married Barbara Letang, June 16, 1941 in Dickinson. For their honeymoon, Nick and Barbara purchased a 1941 Hudson Coupe-Three Speed and drove it to the West coast and back. The couple returned to the Rettinger family farm to operate it for 40 years. After retiring, they moved to Dickinson where they made their home since. They looked forward to their Saturday night dates of dinner and dancing. Nick enjoyed carpentry and fixing up different homes, as well as bowling. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in New England, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson, Eagles, Knights of Columbus Club, and a 65-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Nick is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded by his parents, his wife and a brother, Peter.
