Funeral Mass for Nickolas ?Nick? L. Volz, 73 of Baker, MT will be 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker, MT with Father Thomas Tobin celebrating. Burial will follow at St. John?s Catholic Cemetery in Baker MT. Military rights will be presented by American Legion Post 35. Visitation will be from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Nick passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Nickolas (Nick) L. Volz was born September 1, 1934 in Wishek, ND. In 1937, he and his family moved to Dodge, ND where he resided until 1950 when he moved to Miles City, MT. Nick was in the service from 1954-1956, after his discharge he resided in Miles City and was employed by Hines Motor Supply. On June 7th, 1958, he married Betty Bell. Nick and Betty had four children: Vicki, Laurie, Jeff and Nikki. Nick was employed by Hines Motor Supply until 1966. In 1966 he went to work for Randell Lumber Company. Nick left Randell Lumber Company in 1969 to work for Valley Motor Supply until 1970. In 1970 he leased a Texaco Station in Baker, MT and Nick and his family moved to Baker. In 1973 he went to work for Fullerton Lumber Company, Nick took over as manager in 1975. Nick worked as manager for Fullerton Lumber Company until 1989. Following Fullerton Lumber Company, Nick managed Hanson Lumber until his retirement in 2003. Nick enjoyed socializing at the ?Office?, playing pinochle, dancing the polka, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. Nick was a member of the American Legion, Men?s Club (Baker), and the Moose Lodge. He held many offices through the years with these organizations. Nick is survived by his wife Betty, three daughters: Vicki Volz of Hardin, MT; Laurie Reichenberg of Marmarth, ND; Nikki (Brad) Miller of Mandan, ND, three grandchildren, Britton Reichenberg, Crystal Volz, and Kyle Weinberger, two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Ethan. Sisters, Helen Wilson of Billings, MT; Eva McCabe of Miles City, MT; brothers, Jake (Frieda) Volz of Miles City, MT; Matt (Darlene) Volz of Billings, MT; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. And one sister in law Judy Volz of Miles City, MTHe was preceded in death by his son Jeff; parents Rudy and Clara Volz; and three brothers Anton, Lawrence & Joe. Nick will be greatly missed, but always remembered for his laughter and mischievous smile.
