Funeral Service for Nora Lou Kreitel, 69, of Ekalaka, MT will be 11:00 a. m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT. Interment will follow in Beaver Lodge Cemetery at Ekalaka. Visitation will be 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Wednesday, April 11th, and continue on Thursday from 9:00 a. m. until the time of service at Stevenson Funeral Home Nora passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital in Hardin, MT. Nora Lou Kreitel was born on March 30, 1943, a daughter of John A. and Shirley (Barrett) Ryan in Jordan, MT. She grew up on the family ranch at Brusett. Nora attended the Squaw Creek country school and Garfield County High School where she graduated. Following her graduation Nora attended Miles Community College in Miles City, MT. While in Miles City, Nora met Edward Charles Kreitel, and the two were married on June 2, 1963 at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City. Following their marriage, Nora and Edward made their home on the Kreitel ranch in the Chalk Buttes. When her children started school, Nora did childcare in Ekalaka. When the last of her children reached school age, she went to work in the County Treasures Office, where she spent the next thirty years. She served as the elected County Treasurer for Carter County for term and a half. Following her retirement, Nora spent her spare time working in her yard and visiting her children, family, and dear friends. She loved sewing, crocheting, reading and gardening. She enjoyed the friendship of her faithful companion and friend, Max the dog. Nora was also a member of the Ekalaka Ladies Service Club. Nora was a longtime member of the Ekalaka Bible Church. Nora is survived by her children, Marian Kreitel, Hardin, MT and John Kreitel, Colony, WY; two grandchildren, Jacob Kreitel and Ashley Kreitel; her four sisters, Elva Highland, Brusett, MT, Margie Phipps, Brusett, MT, Sharon Nelson, Jordan, MT and Shirley Kay ?Jo? Ryan, Lewistown, MT and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Shirley, her husband, Edward and her infant son, Michael Kreitel. In lieu flowers the family has established a memorial in Nora?s honor.
