Funeral Services for Norman Lang, 89, of Baker will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Baker with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial will be in the Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker. Visitation will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Norman passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Fallon Medical Complex, Baker. Norman was born on April 4, 1926, the son of John and Elizabeth (Naasz) Lang at Eureka, SD. As a young boy, his family moved to Baker where he grew up and attended the Fertile Prairie Country School through the 8th grade. Norman began work on the family farm as a young man. He married Viola Karch on December 12, 1948 in Plevna. To this union two sons were born, Stan and Jerry. After their marriage, they moved to the Ferguson farm for several years, then later to the “Lang Home Place” where they raised their family and remained for many years thereafter. In the early years, Norman worked carpentry with Albert Losing to supplement the farming operation. After Viola’s death in 2001, he remained quite active on the farm until the Fall 2013 when he moved into Baker to make his final home. Norman enjoyed traveling and bull-head fishing but most of all spending time with family. Over the years, he was very active in the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his two sons: Stan (Diana) of Gillette, WY and Jerry of Baker; a brother, Manuel (Jorcelene) Lang, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Lydia Bales, Yakima, WA and Frieda Straub, Baker, MT; three grandchildren, Derek of Gillette, Danielle (Kace) DeKlyen of Billings, and Richard (fiancée, Lindsey McGee) of Gillette; one great grandchild, Cali DeKlyen. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola; three brothers, Henry, Ernest, and Christ and two sisters, Martha Buerkle and Alvina Croissant.
