Lovec 82, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City, MT. ?Ode? as his friends called him, was born June 21, 1921 at Mill Iron, Montana, the son of Joseph and Mary (Vales) Lovec. He grew up and attended the Brence Country School. Ode continued to work on the family ranch until 1947 when he moved to Baker. He began work for the WBI on the pipeline crew in the summer and would read meters on the gas wells during the winter. In the early years, Ode would ride a horse to get to all the wells. He was married to Orva Mae Clocksin in Miles City on February 19, 1951. During his 39 years with WBI he finished working in the materials warehouse and also assisted in building the meter run buildings. Ode retired in 1986 and has continued to live in Baker. He was very proud of Baker and the Baker Spartans, especially the football and basketball teams. You would get a stirring response from Ode should you find any fault with either. Ode could be found at any home game and a lot of the away games as well, cheering on his favorite Spartans for many years. Ode would begin each day with going down to the C & S Garage and having coffee with the gang. He also enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals, working in his garden or building the next year?s Spartan yard signs for the athletes in his woodshop. Odes was a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union #958. Survivors include: three daughters, Dianne (Larry) Moser, Dayton, WY, Connie (Ron) Segura, Elk Ridge, UT and Tami (Steve) Baldwin, Baker; Grandchildren: Lindsay Moser and her fianc?
