Funeral Services for Olga Emelia Carsen, 94, of Roswell, GA, formerly from Dickinson, ND will be held 11:00 a. m. (MST) Friday, October 7, 2005 at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson, with Pastor Pat Higgins officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Halliday Cemetery in Halliday, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 6, 2005 from 2:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. and continue on Friday from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Olga passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Canton, GA. Olga was born April 14, 1911 southeast of Halliday to Kristian and Mathilda (Gustafsen) Mathisen. Raised and educated in the area, she married Julius N. Carsen in 1934 at Normana Lutheran Church in Dunn Center. They lived and farmed in the Halliday-Werner area until her husband?s death in 1959. In 1960, she and her family moved to Dickinson where she worked at various jobs including Baker Boy Bakery and was an accomplished seamstress. In 1979 she moved to Roswell, GA with her youngest daughter Clara and her husband Dale Elberg. She shared her life with them and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jocelyn until 2001 when she entered The Brian Center (Nursing Home) in Canton, GA. Olga enjoyed playing old-time music and hymns on her accordion and pump organ as well as playing the spoons in The Old Time Band. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and photography. She looked forward to her yearly visits to see family, relatives and friends. Olga is survived by two daughters: Clara (Dale) Elberg, Roswell, GA; Nora Johnson, Helena, MT; four sons: Oliver (Mary) St. Helens, OR; Harry (Elaine), Beulah, ND; Melvin (Ida), Grand Forks, ND; Noris (Theresa), Albuquerque, NM; 19 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Julius, three brothers: Marius, Anker and Sverre Mathisen, three sisters: Jenny Mathisen, Gunda Frafjord, Anna Lieblein, one daughter, Ella, one son, Norman, one grandson, Russell Carsen, and one son-in-law LeRoy Johnson.
