Mass of Christian Burial for Hryhorij ?Harry? Oliszczak, 88 years old, of Dickinson, formerly of Belfield, is 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2004 at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Taras Miles, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. John?s Ukrainian Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation is Wednesday, January 28, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel continuing from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Benedict?s Health Center. Visitation will then resume at 4:30 p.m. at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church with a Parastas at 7:00 p.m. Harry passed away on Saturday, January 24, at the St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson, ND. Harry was born January 15, 1916 to Vasyl and Yewka (Metdrain) Oliszczak in Groziowa, Ukraine. He grew up and attended the village school. When he was 21 years old he entered the Polish Army and in 1940 joined the Russian Army. On September 27, 1946, Harry married Katheryne Wolonska in Ludwigsburg, Germany. They came to the United States in 1949 and settled in the Belfield area. Harry worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a carpenter for the Building and Bridge engineering crew. He was a member of St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church of Belfield and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. Harry enjoyed flowers, gardening and working around the house. He especially loved raising and caring for his animals (e.g. chickens, pigeons and rabbits). Harry enjoyed visiting and getting to know people. When you were a guest at their home, he always made you feel welcome. Harry is survived by his children: Mary (Randy) Abbott of Jamestown, NY, Olga (Larry) Heiser of Belfield, ND, Marjorie (Jim) Guist of Prairie Grove, AR, Kathy (Henry) Kessel of Bowman, ND, Peter Oliszczak of Indianapolis, IN, Michael Oliszczak of Northfield, MN, Annie (Danny) Lies of Douglas, ND, and Rita (Vick) Pohribnak of Killdeer, ND; nineteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryne; a son, John; infant son, Billy; his parents; and nine brothers and sisters: Hafia, Vasyl, Maria, Tekla, Katheryna, Mykholo, Ivan, Nastrwda and Katyia.


Visitation is Wednesday, January 28, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel continuing from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Benedict?s Health Center. Visitation will then resume at 4:30 p.m. at St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church with a Parastas at 7:00 p.m.
