Funeral services for Olive Lutz, 85, of New England, ND will be 10 a. m. , Monday, October 20, 2008 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, ND with Pastor Steve Schou officiating. Burial will follow at the New England Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Sunday, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. on October 19, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND. Olive passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008 at her home in New England. Olive Child Lutz, daughter of Elisha and Helen (Morrison) Child was born September 6, 1923 at the Dickinson Hospital. She grew up on a farm west of Regent. She attended grade school at a rural school, Teppe Butte. She graduated from Regent High School and Minot State College with a degree in elementary education. Olive taught in area schools before she married Albert Lutz in May 1946 in Baker, Montana. They raised their family on a farm in the Teppe Butte area. They were members of the rural Peace Lutheran Church, where Olive was the Sunday school superintendent, and a teacher and belonged to the Women?s group. Olive was also a member of Our Redeemer?s Church, where she taught Sunday school, was the first woman on the church council and held offices in the Ladies Aid, as well as her Circle group. Olive enjoyed quilting at the church, serving and helping out where needed. She loved the outdoors, gardening, checking the grain crops and farming in general and walking the buttes looking for wildflowers, especially the first crocuses in spring. She loved to spend time with her five grandchildren, especially those at the farm. Olive is survived by sons, Roger Lutz, New England, ND; Richard (Connie) Lutz, Regent, ND; daughter, Shirley (Ornell) Erickson, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Tana & Tim Bock, Trevor & Aimee Lutz, Hollie Nelson, Denise & Daryl Sip, Cheryl & Tim Gaffey; step grandchildren, Teresa & Mike Urchlacher, Sarah Schmidt and Allison Becktesh; great grandchildren, Karagin Lutz, Elyse & Collin Bock, Gracie Nelson, Tristen, Bailey, Leah and Carley Sip, Timothy and Isabelle Binder, Piper Gaffey; sisters: Marie Kaiser and Vivienne Johnson of Dickinson, ND Preceding Olive in death were her parents; husband, Albert; brothers, Richard and Alan Child.
