Olive Sparks

Funeral Service for Olive C. Sparks, 73, of Plevna, MT will be at 11:00 a. m. on Monday, November 15, 2010, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT with the Reverend Father Thomas Tobin officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony?s Catholic Cemetery at Plevna. Visitation will be 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Sunday, November 14th, and continue 9:00 a. m. until the time of service on Monday. Olive passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at her home in Plevna, MT. Olive was born on January 27, 1937, to Jay and Mamie Honstain. She was the second youngest child in a family of eleven. Olive grew up on the family farm near Willard, Montana. Olive C. was married to Robert E. Sparks on November 17, 1953 in Glendive, MT. After they were married they spent several years working for various ranches and in the oil fields in southeastern Montana. In 1967 they moved to the Herbst place owned by Ernest Sparks. They spent the next 12 years there ranching in partnership with Ernest. In the late seventies, Olive took a job as cook in the Plevna school system. She worked for several years at the school until she became a Certified Nurses Assistant at Fallon Medical Complex where she worked until her retirement. After Robert?s death in 1998, Olive and Robert Bechtold became lifelong companions. They were inseparable, providing company and comfort to each other until Olive?s passing. Olive is survived by all of her six children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They include Marjorie Poffenberger (Ralph), and their children Kevin and Melissa, Pam Castleberry (Dane), and their children Samantha, Michael, Jaclyn, and Conner, David Sparks (Kathy) and daughter Angela and her daughter Ayden, Richard Sparks (Jeanne) and their children Bailey, Sheldon, and Cody and her children Reuben and Bonita, Penny Benner (Willie) and daughter Tiffany, and Misty Radue (Mark) and daughter Mesa. Other survivors are her sisters Vivian Perry and Montana Marie as well as companion Robert Bechtold. Olive was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents Jay and Mamie, siblings Nellie, Elfrieda, Pat, Dorothy, Joyce, Al, Chet, and Art.
