Olivia Huether

Olivia Huether was born on July 25, 1916, a daughter of Henry and Katie (Zimmerman) Fuchs at the Fuchs farm east of Plevna, MT. When Olivia was four months old her mother passed away. Following her mothers? death, Olivia spent the next three years living with an aunt in Mobridge, SD. After her father remarried, Olivia returned to the Fuchs farm where she lived. She attended Plevna School where she graduated from the eight grade. Following grade school, Olivia worked on the family farm where she helped her father farm and care for the livestock. Olivia was known as a hard worker and could keep pace with any male farm worker. Olivia met Walter Huether, and the two were united in marriage on September 23, 1937, at the German Baptist Church in Plevna, MT. Following their marriage, Olivia and Walter lived on the George Huether farm for a few months, until they bought the present day Huether Farm west of Baker, MT. Olivia and Walter were blessed with three children, Curtis, Berniece and Calvin. Olivia was a homemaker, but most importantly she was Walters?s partner in the day to day operation of the farming and ranching at the Huether place. She enjoyed driving the tractor and ranching, especially working the cattle. Her family and her church were most important to her. The weather had to be very adverse for Olivia to miss a Sunday service. In her early years she was involved in the women?s group in the Church. But most important was her family. Olivia spent her entire married life on the farm until a few years ago when she turned the operation of the farm over to her son, Calvin and opted for the easier life at Quality Personal Care in Baker. Due to failing health, Olivia moved into the Fallon County Medical Complex Nursing Home earlier this year. Olivia is survived by her three children, Curtis (Sharon) Huether of Baker, MT, Berniece (David) Anderson of Sidney, MT and Calvin Huether of Baker, MT; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Katie, her loving husband, Walter, her sister, Christine Hermann and three brothers, Harold Fuchs, Eugene Fuchs and Leo Fuchs, and a great-grand daughter.
