Orville R. Haugen, 66, New England, died suddenly, Monday, January 26, 2004 in Dickinson. Funeral services will be 2 p. m. Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, with Rev. Jerry Erickson officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Anton Ulijohn Post #66. Interment will be 1 p. m. (MST) Friday, January 30, 2004, at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, ND. Visitation will be noon to 5 p. m. Wednesday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday at the church beginning at 6 p. m. There will be a prayer service 7 p. m. Wednesday at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. Orville Haugen was born October 7, 1937, in White Lake Township, Slope County, ND. He attended school at White Lake School. He enlisted in the Army in 1955, and was honorably discharged with the rank of PFC in 1958. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Nielsen in December of 1968. After being discharged from the Army he worked for Schwartz and Oberlander Construction until 1973. He then started his own repair business, working on everything from heavy construction equipment to lawn mowers. In his spare time he grew Slope County?s #1 potatoes. Orville also enjoyed deer hunting, visiting, playing cards and spending time with his granddaughter. Orville Haugen is survived by his wife, Betty, New England; daughter, Audrey (Steven) Treiber, Bismarck; one granddaughter, Ashley Treiber; sisters, Mary Oberlander, New England, Rosella (Edward) Schwartz, New England, Alice (DeLane) Woehl, Dickinson and brothers, Obert Haugen, Amidon and Dale (Annette) Haugen, New England, sister-in-law, Ann Haugen, Scranton. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Paul in infancy and Palmer and one sister, Willa Barton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
