Orville R. Richardson, 83, of the Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin, and formerly of Hebron, died Monday, February 02, 2009, at the Marian Manor. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 10:30 Central Time at the St. John Church in Hebron with military rites by the Henry Biffert Post #100 of the American Legion. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery rural Mandan, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 until 8 PM at Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Orville was born September 19, 1925 in Lansford, ND, the son of Ralph and Lena (Parker) Richardson. He was raised and educated at Lansford. He entered the US Army on December 17, 1943, when he was 17. Following discharge on March 31, 1946, he returned to Lansford where he met, and later married, Viola Lunde on October 9, 1949 at Lansford. Orville started working for Great Plains Supply in Mohall in 1948 and was transferred to Wimbledon, ND in 1950 and to Hebron in 1954 where he worked for Great Plains Supply until his retirement in 1982. Orville enjoyed playing pinochle and sporting events. He was active in basketball, baseball, and softball for many years, and was the coach and manager for the Jr. Legion Baseball program. He was a member of the Hebron Lions for over 50 years; was a life member and past commander of the American Legion, member of St. John Church, Hebron Brick City Senior Citizens, and a past Hebron Fireman. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Viola, Hebron, ND; three sons and daughters-in-law: Kerry and Brenda, Hebron, ND; Mike and Karin, Arvada, CO; Mark and Suzette, Bismarck, ND; and a daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and John Doubek, Minot, ND; 10 grandchildren ? Krista Doubek; Jennifer (Lyn) Narum; Jessica Richardson; Kelli (Allen) Hoogers; Stacey Richardson; Sandra Richardson; Johnny Doubek; Nicole, Jodi and Brian Richardson and three great grandchildren ? Kyra and Jaxon Narum and Nella Hoogers. He is also survived by his six brothers ? John (Phyllis), Minot; Harry (MaryAnn), Grand Junction, CO; Don (Marie), Minot; Robert, Beloit, WI; Floyd, Mandan; Harley (Rosie), Beloit, WI. Three sisters ? Dorothy Belisle, Minot; Phyllis (Al) Clark, Hemet, CA; Doris Herndon, Paradise, CA, two sisters-in-laws ? Doris Richardson, Sacramento, CA; Velma Richardson, Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene and Raymond; and sisters, Lois Heath; Mildred Kovarik; Hazel Gardner; and Donna Mae Richardson.
