Funeral Services for Orville T. Rodne, 72, of Dickinson, formerly of Dodge, will be 11 a. m. , Wednesday May 30, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dodge, with Rev. Richard R. Melchert and Rev. Tim Voth, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Fiegel Fisher Post #258 of Halliday. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Dodge. Visitation will be 12 noon to 9 p. m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Orville passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson. Orville T. Rodne was born on August 28, 1934, in Harvey, ND to Oliver and Inga (Overland) Rodne. He and his family lived on the Brauer Farm during the Depression. Orville was baptized at the Bethel Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Vang Lutheran Church in Manfred, ND. He began first grade in Manfred, ND and the family moved to Tacoma, Washington when Orville was nine years old and lived there for three years. They moved back to Manfred in 1946, where Orville finished his schooling and graduated from Fessenden High School in 1952. He served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and was stationed in Korea for 18 months. In 1958, he purchased a farm southwest of Dodge, ND and was married to Patricia Ebbert on September 21, 1958 in Fessenden, ND. Orville loved the farm and raised wheat, sunflowers, corn, dairy and beef cattle. He enjoyed animals, auction sales, reading, hunting and collecting toy tractors. Orville was on the Board of Directors of the Halliday Fire Department, Dodge Commercial Club, Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Fiegel Fisher Post #258. Orville retired from farming in 2000 and later sold his land in 2005 and moved to Dickinson. Orville is survived by: his wife, Patricia, Dickinson; son, Dean (Debbie) Rodne of Medora and their children, Rebecca, Zachary (Fianc?, Jessica Lynn) of Glendive, MT, Ethan and Hannah, son, Wade (Tina) Rodne of Hastings, MN, and their children, Cassie (Steve) Townsend, Rozet, WY, Jodie and Jennifer; daughter Leanne (Mark) Benes, Beach, ND and their children Tyler and Megan; one sister, Ione Hauser of Eagan, MN; one niece, Elizabeth Hauser, New York City, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents.
