Patty passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at St. Luke?s Nursing Home in Dickinson. Patricia Fisher was born March 24, 1927 to Willard and Magdalene (Frank) Fisher in Dickinson, ND. Patty grew up in Dickinson and attended St. Joseph?s Catholic grade school. After she graduated from Dickinson High School, Patty attended St. Benedict?s College before returning to Dickinson. Throughout high school and after college, Patty worked as a telephone operator in Dickinson. Patty spoke often of the day she was at work when Pearl Harbor was bombed and the entire switchboard was lit up. After World War II, Patty moved to Colorado to take an office position with the Air Force. In 1950, she was persuaded to move home by Stanley Maixner. The two were married on November 25, 1950 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson. The couple made their home and raised their family on the Maixner farm in Slope County. Stanley and Patty retired to Dickinson in 1992 and have lived there ever since. Patty enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was also an accomplished pianist, playing for church services in Amidon and New England over the years. Patty always helped with chores on the farm and was proud of her abilities when it came to butchering chickens. A highlight of her life was the Democratic National Convention in 1960. She had the opportunity to meet Eleanor Roosevelt, who was promoting Adila Stevenson. After the convention, they met John F. Kennedy as he thanked the North Dakota Delegation for nominating and supporting him.
