Patricia Pletan

A funeral service for Patricia “Pat” Ann Pletan, 89, of Dickinson, ND will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 22 2017 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Dieterle officiating. Burial will follow in Dickinson Cemetery.


Visitation for Pat will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a prayer service taking place at 7:00 p.m.


Pat passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Dickinson.


Patricia Ann Pletan was born March 21, 1928 to Henry and Paula (Johnson) Severson in Fargo.  She attended school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1946.  Following graduation, Pat worked for Fargo Insurance & Underwriters.


On November 5, 1948, Pat and Orion Pletan were united in marriage in Fargo.  To this union three children were born: Julie, Pamela and Michael.  Together, the family lived in Fargo, Beach, and Grafton; before making their home in Belfield in 1959.  It was during this time that she began her career as a bookkeeper at the Pletan Ford Service working alongside her husband.  In 1974, Pat and Orion moved to Dickinson and started U Wash Carwash.  Pat enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was known for her homemade donuts, lefse, and butter cookies.


Pat is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Gary) Newton of Belfield, and Pamela Pavlicek of Dickinson; one son, Michael Pletan of Dickinson; four grandchildren, Tricia Newton of Dickinson, Clif (Kerry) Newton of Black Hawk, SD, Daniel (Judy) Newton Baltimore, MD, Kelcee Pavlicek of Dickinson; ten great-grandchildren; Thomas and Jennifer Myran, Danny, Ali and Timmy Newton, Olivia, Sarah and Lane Newton, Elijah and Ahriana Pavlicek; one great-great grandchild, Emberlynn Hope Woodbury; one brother,  Ray Severson of Moorhead, MN; and two sisters, Dee (George) Smith of Costa Mesa, CA, and Dianne Stenso of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Marlene Pletan of Renton, WA.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Paula Severson; husband, Orion; brothers, Lyle Severson and Dick (Anne) Severson; sister, Kay (Don) Baker; brother-in-law, Merlin Pletan; sister-in-law, Anna Severson; son-in-law, Denis Pavlicek; daughter-in-law, Diane Pletan; and great-granddaughter, Mallory Newton.


Pat’s family would like to thank the staff at Country House for the compassionate care that she was given.
