Patricia passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.

Patricia Delores Steiner was born December 13, 1930 in Dickinson, ND, the second oldest of sixteen children born to Philip and Mildred (Polanchek) Kessel. She lived most of her life in Belfield, ND. Following her high school graduation in 1948, she taught for one year in a country school. On January 23, 1951 she married John Joseph Steiner and they loved raising their eight children, five sons and three daughters. She was in partnership and did the bookkeeping for nearly 30 years, with her husband in their business, John’s Bar. For four years, around 1978, she prepared tax returns as an employee for Nick Kessel’s Tax and Insurance Agency. Patsy was patriotic and civic minded. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and also worked as a volunteer for the school and national elections. She was devoted to her catholic faith, attending Mass and church devotions and she took great comfort in praying the rosary. Patsy was a life- long member of Saint Bernard’s parish, and in her younger years participated in the church choir and guilds. Patricia was an avid bridge player, played duplicate bridge in tournaments, and for many years enjoyed friendships in several bridge clubs. She liked to travel and some of her favorite highlights were her trips to Europe/Germany, Mexico and the Caribbean. Patsy’s children have shared many fond memories of their mother: fishing on Lake Sakakawea, enjoying her patio garden, and playing pinochle and cribbage during family gatherings. Mom enjoyed reading and gardening, but most of all, she looked forward to the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her profound faith and her generous and unpretentious manner.

Patricia is survived by her sons, Warren/Bruce (Sharon) Steiner of Dickinson, Patrick Steiner and Gary/Gerard Steiner of Belfield; daughters Karla (Steve) Price of Williston and Jackie/ Jaculyn (Douglas) Ackerman of Fargo; grandchildren, Jarvis (Kimberly) Price, Douglas Steiner, Misty Tomchuk, Jon Steiner, Sherri (Justin) Decker and Krystal Perry; and 10 great-grandchildren. Surviving her also are sisters, Phylis “Tootsi” Roth of Glendive, MT and Valarie “Cookie” (Dennis) Bergman of Cincinnati, OH; brothers, Charles (Leona) Kessel , Raymond (Cheryl) Kessel, Tommy Kessel and Ralph Kessel, all of Belfield, LeRoy Kessel of Newell, SD, Larry (Jeanne) Kessel of Fargo, and Allen (Jean) Kessel of Santa Fe, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three children, Jeri/Germayne Steiner, Kurtis/ Roderic Steiner and Tyler/John Steiner; brothers, Phillip and Vernon Kessel; and sisters, Darien Kessel, Joyce Benham, JoAnn Schroeder and Shirley Arneson.

Patsy was much loved and will be missed by her family and the many friends that she and her husband John made during the years that they worked and lived in Belfield.
