Patrick was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood, ND.
Patrick Michael Tuite was born to James and Margaret (Maguire) Tuite at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson North Dakota on December 3, 1933. He was the youngest of six kids.
Pat attended school in Dickinson through the third grade before moving with his family to Richfield, MN; where he graduated from the eighth grade. Though his education was not formally continued, Pat was a very knowledgeable man. He read three newspapers and did the New York Times Crossword Puzzle every day.
When Pat was 16 years old, he moved back to Dickinson to live with his older brother, James. Before working a couple of jobs, at the age of 17 (he said he was 18) he began his career with the railroad. Pat was known for his hard work and commitment to his job. After 44 years of service, he retired as a conductor. However, that didn’t end his ties to the railroad. Pat met his buddies for coffee on a daily basis. He missed them greatly after he moved into the assisted living area of Northwood Deaconess Health Center so he would be closer to family.
It was the summer of 1956 when Pat was out driving around town with his friend Bud Olson that he met the love of his life, Irene Weiler. She was out on the town with her cousin, Tony Schwindt and a group of girls. They started talking and he asked her for a date. The two were united in marriage on May 10, 1957. Together, they raised their four boys in the Weiler family home. Pat and Irene shared more than 58 years as husband and wife.
Pat was a small man in stature but in the eyes of his family he was a very big man. He was humble and kind and had a heart of gold. Family meant everything to him and he often said he wished he had spent more time with his children when they were young. He so adored his grandchildren as they did him. Though he has now found his way home to the Lord, Irene and his family in Heaven, he has left a big hole in the lives of his friends and family here.
Pat is survived by two sons, Brian (Laurie) Tuite, Finley, ND and Robert (Sharon) Tuite, Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren, Aaron Tuite, Bismarck, ND; Jordyn and Ryan Tuite, Finley, ND; and Kyle (Sheila) Nelson, Fargo, ND; and his great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Sawyer Nelson; brothers-in-law, Cliff Barnhart, Sidney, MT and Ed Ulvi, Farmington, MN; sister-in-law Agnes Tuite, Spokane, WA and many nieces and nephews.
Patrick was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene Tuite; parents, James and Margaret Tuite; infant son, Mark Tuite; his sons, Patrick Tuite, Jr. and Shannon Tuite; his brothers James and Joseph Tuite; his sister, Dorcas Ulvi; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne Marie & Vernon Westveer, and Margaret Louise & Charles Parisian; and his sisters-in-law, Eva Goetz and Delores Barnhart.
