Patsy passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson, ND.
Patsy Lorie Rocki was born on June 29, 1927, in Michigan. She lived in the Milwaukee area. Patsy had a love for music and enjoyed playing guitar, accordion and singing. Through out much of her life she traveled and played with many small Country Music Bands in the Wisconsin area. Patsy married John Rocki while living in Wisconsin. The two would later divorce. Following her marriage to John, Patsy moved to Colorado and then on to Hamilton, TX. In Hamilton, she worked in a Senior Citizens Center. It was while she was living in Hamilton that Patsy would meet Normie Zimmer through a pen pall club. In 1978, Patsy and Normie were married in Hamilton and moved to Montana; living in Miles City, Ekalaka and Baker. Eventually they moved to Marmarth, ND where Patsy and Normie purchased a home. Patsy enjoyed many wonderful years living in Marmarth and being part of the community. Due to failing health in 2005, Patsy entered St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson. It was Patsy’s desire to eventually come back home to Marmarth. Patsy and Normie would eventually divorce, but remained best friends. Patsy loved cats! She took in many stray homeless cats to provide a safe place for them, taking care of them as if they were her children. She enjoyed the many holidays through out the year and dressed in her own unique outfits for all of the special occasions. Patsy lived for the annual Marmarth 4th of July Celebration, especially the parade. She participated in each parade, decorating her bike or wagon. She was very creative and witty in her own sort of way. Patsy never knew a stranger; it was just someone she hadn’t talked to yet.
Patsy is survived by her former husband and best friend, Normie Zimmer of Marmarth, ND and her many friends in the Marmarth area and caretakers at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson.
