Paul Meyer, 75, Gladstone, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. Thursday, March 27, 2003, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone, ND with the Reverend Lawrence Wagner, O. S. B. celebrating. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Gladstone. Visitation will be held at Price-Murphy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. with a rosary being said at 6:30 p. m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service with a rosary said at 9:15 a. m. Paul Meyer was born October 23, 1927, to John J. and Margaret (Emineth) Meyer in Stark County. He grew up on Meyer Dairy and learned to work at an early age. He delivered milk every morning before attending St. Joseph?s Catholic School. After 8th grade Paul was needed at home to help his father with the farming and milking. He left home at the age of 21 and worked for different farmers. Paul served his country from 1951 to 1953, he spent most of his duty time in Korea, receiving the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze star, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of a Sargeant. After returning home Paul worked for the city of Dickinson before attending college in Wahpeton to take welding courses. After one of Paul?s brothers was drafted, Paul returned home to farm with his father. Paul married Joan Fischer, December 27, 1956 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Killdeer. They were blessed with twelve children. Paul worked at Fisher Sand & Gravel from 1971-1996. He was foreman of a crushing crew, working in Montana, SD, and Wyoming. He took great pride in his work. In May of 1971, they moved south of Gladstone to a hobby farm, raising cattle, horses, and children. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He took pleasure in playing cards, reading westerns, his horses and his dog. Nothing made him happier than to be out on his John Deere tractor farming. Paul was a member of St. Thomas Church and a past board member. He also was a member of KC Council #5490 and currently was their treasurer. In the past he held various offices including Grand Knight. Paul was a firm believer and supporter of Catholic education. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity High School, St. Joseph?s Grade School or Home On The Range.
