Funeral service for Pauline C. Metzger, 101, of Fargo, formerly of Hebron, will be 2:00 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at St. John Church, Hebron, ND, with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Hebron.


Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.


Pauline C. Metzger, 101 years of age, entered into God’s Heavenly Garden on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.


She was born on March 13, 1911 to John and Martha Anhorn Metzger in Jamestown, ND. Her family moved to Glen Ullin, ND, where she attended school and was confirmed at the German Congregational Church. She married Reinhold J. Metzger on January 26, 1932. From this union, four children were born. The couple resided in Hebron until they moved to a farm north of Richardton. Pauline worked hard beside her husband, also cooking for the threshing crews. She loved gardening, baking and fishing. They later moved back to Hebron where they were members of St. John United Church of Christ. Pauline will always be remembered for her kuchen, caramel rolls, rhubarb pie, blachinda, tomato gravy and dill gravy. After the sale of her home, Pauline moved to Mandan. She later entered Bismarck Baptist Home for several years and then transferred to Elim Care Center in Fargo.


Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reinhold; two brothers, Jake Metzger and Gottlieb Metzger; two sisters, Katie Sayler and Alvina Abbey; and one grandson, Scott Adkins.


She is survived by her children, Olivia Mueller (Evert) Mesa, AZ; Eugene Metzger (Nettie) Bismarck, ND; Janice Sauers, Mesa, AZ; and James Metzger (Peggy) Fargo, ND; 12 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, and 8 Great Great-Grandchildren; two brothers, Willie Metzger, Lodi, CA and Arnie Metzger (Levina) Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews.
