II Corinthians 5:8Pauline Rankin, 91 of Ekalaka, MT formerly of Lead, SD, passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 at Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka, MT. A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at The Chapel of the Hills Evangelical Free Church in Lead, SD, with Pastor Steve DeFord, of First Baptist Church in Ekalaka, MT officiating. A private family committal service will follow at Mountain Lawn Cemetery in Lead. Pauline Rankin was born on August 24, 1914 in Plato, Missouri, to Charles G. and Selena Ellen (Ormsbee) Wagner, the third of six children. The family moved to South Dakota while she was a child, living in Mitchell and Wessington Springs, where she graduated from High School. Pauline met Lester J. Rankin in Woonsocket, SD and were married October 8, 1936 in Sioux Falls, SD. Three daughters were blessed to this union. Lester and Pauline celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary in 1986 and then were blessed to have 4 more years together. She was a charter member of the Chapel of the Hills Evangelical Free Church, in Lead, SD. Pauline worked various jobs over the years. Together, Pauline and Lester owned and operated the 4U Motel in Deadwood and she was also the Curator of the Adams Museum. Mrs. Rankin also volunteered at the Northern Hills General Hospital in Deadwood. She moved to Rapid City in May of 2000 and then lived with Nelson and Florice Rolando for 2 years before becoming a resident of Dahl Memorial Nursing Home on December 29, 2004. Pauline truly loved her family and cherished her time with them. She was also very fond of traveling and was very proud to have visited Israel twice. Pauline is survived by her three daughters: Conda June ?CJ? Chandler, of Rapid City, SD; Florice (Nelson) Rolando, of Ekalaka, MT; and Jeanette Rankin, of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Delbert Wagner and a sister, Cora Mae Melby, both of CA; eleven grandchildren and twenty Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester, two brothers and a sister. The family has established a memorial.
