Pauline Beck O?Rourke Sadler, 100, of Baker, MT formerly of Bismarck, ND quietly passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in Baker MT. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Interment will take place in the Temvik Cemetery, Temvik, ND later this spring. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker followed by a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 PM. Pauline was born on the family homestead near Temvik ND on May 25 1910, the fourth child of Christian and Pauline (Naasz) Beck. She attended Sand Creek School near Temvik and Hazelton High School, Hazelton, ND. She married Simon W. O?Rourke on September 7, 1927 and they made their home in Coraopolis Heights, Pennsylvania. Six sons, Simon, Christian, Joseph, Paul, John and Herbert were born to this union. Following the death of Simon in 1943, Pauline worked in a glass factory and as a welder on troop ships at Dravo-Neville Island PA until 1945. She then moved her family back to Temvik where she purchased and ran the Temvik Cooperative Store. She married Loyal (Jack) Sadler. As population in the Temvik area declined, Pauline returned to school in her 40?s to earn her teaching certificate and continued with this career, attending college at Dickinson State Teacher?s College graduating with a 2nd Grade Teacher?s Certificate in 1957. She received her Bachelor of Science from Minot State College in 1962. During the summers of 1963 and 1964, she attended Ellendale College to take Library Science. She received her Masters of Library Science from Louisiana State University in 1966. Pauline taught Elementary and Junior School in Emmons, Montrail and Morton Counties in North Dakota and Special Education and Speech Correction in the State Industrial School system in Mandan ND. Beginning in 1966, she was the head of Technical Services in the North Dakota State Library Commission. She returned to teaching in the early 70?s, retiring in 1975. In 1976 she moved to Wilton to assist her son Herbert in a business venture. When Herbert died in 2005, she moved to Orofino ID to live with her son John. Following his death in 2010, she moved to Baker MT to live near her granddaughters, Karol O?Rourke Zachmann, Baker, and Karen O?Rourke Waliser, Bismarck, ND. She celebrated her 100th birthday on May 25, 2010. She had a passion for Bingo, hiding her winnings in her shoes and in the past year discovered the joys of manicures and having her hair done. She was quick witted and always offered a sweet smile. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Frieda, Martha, Bertha, Alvina and Catherine, brothers Albert and Christian, husbands Simon and Jack, sons Simon, Christian, Joseph, Paul, John and Herbert. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren great-great-grandchildren.
