Peter R. Dukart, 82, Dickinson, died Friday, August 13, 2004 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p. m. , Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Austin Vetter celebrating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Monday, August 16, 2004 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home. There will be a rosary at 7:30 p. m. led by St. Pius Verein with a vigil to follow, led by Deacon Tony Wanner. Peter R. Dukart was born June 27, 1922 in Dickinson to Rudolph and Mariana (Hegel) Dukart. He grew up on the parental homestead, 12 and ? miles south of Dickinson. He received his education in rural and St. Pius School, Schefield, ND. He married Mary Dolechek at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson on January 11, 1944. Peter worked for his dad until parents retired in 1942, renting the homestead until his parents sold it to Peter in 1944. Peter began his farming and dairy career by purchasing cows and selling whole milk to the Lefor Cheese Company. In 1966, he purchased a bulk tank and in 1967, he built a milking parlor and started selling Grade A milk in 1968. Peter attended A. I. School through the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association and began building the dairy herd through artificial insemination. In 1967, Peter purchased another 160 acres of school land. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, singing in the church choir, square dancing and visiting with friends and neighbors on Sunday afternoons. He was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, the Eagles Club, Knights of Columbus and St. Pius Verein. Peter is survived by: his wife, Mary; his children, Ronald (Alice) Dukart, Dickinson, Charlotte (Ed) Friedt, Eagle, ID, Clyde Dukart, Dickinson, Adela Ann (Dwight) Thomas, Thornton, CO, Carlene (Nick) Dengel, Bismarck, Gerald (Mary) Dukart, Cambridge, MN; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one grandson, Alex Dukart; four brothers, John R. , Frank, Simon and Rudolph and six sisters, twins Mariana Dolechek and Katherine Lucas, Eva Huck, Rose Steier, Helen Heidt and Barbara Senn.
