Funeral Mass for Peter Kaufman, 86, Dickinson, ND, will be at 10:00 a. m. Monday, January 18, 2010, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will be at the Lefor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND, with a Rosary service at 5:00 p. m. Pete passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson, ND. Peter Kaufman was born September 20, 1923, in Lefor, ND. He grew up and attended country school and later attended the school in Lefor. He married Hilda Kampf on June 26, 1945 at Lefor and together they farmed, ranched and raised their family of four children. To this union Gerald, Rick, Wayne and Gregory were born. In 1987, they moved into Dickinson where they made their home. Pete continued to farm and ranch with his son Wayne up until the time of his death. He enjoyed butchering, taking photos and having friends and family in his home. He also enjoyed helping with the cooking whenever needed. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and keeping up with their interests as well as keeping them busy and out of trouble. His love was always with the farm, crops, cattle and especially horses. Pete was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, a 4-H leader for many years, and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Eagles. He is survived by his wife, Hilda; his sons, Gerald (Chris) Kaufman, Aurora Grande, CA, Rick (LaVerne) Kaufman, Bismarck, ND, Wayne (Sandy) Kaufman, Gladstone, ND, and Greg (Adel), Truman, MN; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Elvin (Kathy) Kaufman, Lefor, ND; a sister, Mary Wegh, Laurel, MT and a sister-in-law, Catherine Kaufman, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl and Edward (Mary) Kaufman and a brother-in-law, John Wegh.
