Funeral Services for Peter Klein, 90, of Dickinson will be 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Deacon Tony Wanner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael?s Cemetery near rural Hettinger County, ND. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. , Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Peter passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Peter Klein was born November 19, 1919, to Michael and Margaret (Jahner) Klein in rural Hettinger County, where he grew up and attended country school. On November 24, 1942, Peter married Barbara Schabary at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lefor, ND. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in January 1943 and was later honorably discharged. He returned home to his wife, where they began farming in Hettinger County. To this union, five boys were born, Daniel, David, Francis, Lee and Gene. The family moved to the Lefor area where they took over the Schabary homestead. In 1978, they retired and moved into Dickinson where they have made their home since. Pete and Barbara always kept active working various jobs, most recently at St. Anthony?s Club. Pete enjoyed gardening, woodworking, pen and pencil collecting, playing pool, dancing, and helping Lee out on the farm. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony Club, St. Pius Club, and the Eagles Club. Pete?s greatest love was having his family around, doing anything for them and being with all of them. He was a great father and instilled a great work ethic in all of his boys. He especially loved his grandchildren. Pete is survived by his wife, Barbara; five sons, Daniel J. (Cindy) Klein, Ellensburg, WA, David M. (Ida) Klein, Mossyrock, WA, Francis R. (Sandy) Klein, Dickinson, ND, Lee A. Klein, Lefor, ND, and Gene P. (Andi) Klein, Brandon, SD; eight grandchildren, Jeff, William, Denise, David (Adriana), Mike, Mark, Kyle and Keira; five sisters, Cecilia Fritsch, Rochester, MN, Emma Friedt, Mott, ND, Kate (Leonard) Messmer, Rochester, MN, Mary (Ray) Friedt, Rochester, MN, and Margaret (Matt) Helfrich, Billings, MT; and two brothers, Joe (Lois) Klein, Rochester, MN, and Ralph (Shirley) Klein, Sequim, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Sam, Tony, Kasper and Michael; one sister, Irene; and one grandson, Dusty Perfett.
