Peter Schulz died June 3, 2023, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND, just 22 days shy of his 101st birthday.
Peter (Pete) was born to Joseph and Anna (Kubishta) Schulz on June 25, 1922 on a farm in Stark County known as the Adam Raab farm. At the age of four, his family moved to Clark Township and then moved again when he was 18 to the E-6 Ranch. He attended Clark Township School in Hettinger County for eight years and then took two years of correspondence.
Peter married Anastasia (Ann) Schmidt of Fayette on January 29, 1946 at St. Joseph's Church in Dickinson. On the night they were married, the temperature was -32 and the furnace had gone out.
Pete and Ann lived on a farm west of New England for 36 years before moving to Dickinson in the fall of 1982. Pete continued to help the harvest as long as he was able. He enjoyed repairing lawnmowers, making toy tractors for all his grandchildren, gardening, coffee with his friends, and attending family gatherings. Pete and Ann moved to Evergreen in 2017, where Pete has lived ever since.
Pete’s family would like to thank Evergreen staff and residents for making him a home the last 7.5 years of his life. Also thank you to the staff at St. Alexius Hospital Progressive Care Unit for the care and compassion during his last days.
