Mass of Christian Burial for Peter Donald Thielen, 78, of Plevna, MT will be at 10:30 a. m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church in Plevna with the Reverend Father Thomas Tobin as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot in St. Anthony?s Catholic Cemetery at Plevna. Military rites will be accorded by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35. Visitation will be 2:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on September 3rd, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. Pete passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Peter Donald Thielen was born on June 11, 1930, on the family farm north of Plevna, MT, a son of John and Burnetta Irene (Bergman) Thielen. He attended the Clark country school through the eight-grade and high school in Plevna where he graduated. After graduating from high school, Pete worked on the family farm, until being drafted into the United States Army on May 16, 1954. Pete served in the Army until his Honorable discharge on May 17, 1956. After his discharge, Pete returned to Plevna to the family farm. Pete enjoyed roller skating, and while roller skating one evening at Green Acres, he met Ruth Mary Anderson. After a brief courtship, the two were married on August 4, 1956, at St. Anthony?s Catholic Church in Plevna. To this union Diana, Steven, Gary, William and Mark were born. Pete and Ruth raised their family on the farm. In the mid 1960?s, Pete worked for Zion Construction. Due to his failing health, Pete and Ruth left the farm and moved into town, where they have made their home since. Pete enjoyed being a farmer and loved the country way of life. In his spare time, Pete could be found hunting or fishing. Pete was a member of St. Anthony?s Parish, the American Legion; served on the Dry Creek School District Board; Plevna School Board and was a proud member of the Plevna Volunteer Fire Department. Pete is survived by his wife, Ruth Thielen of Plevna, MT; his children, Diana Thielen of Plevna, MT, Steven (Vicki) Thielen of Bowman, ND, Gary Thielen, William ?Bill? Thielen and Mark Thielen all of Plevna, MT; his sister, Dorothy Steffes of Plevna, MT; a sister-in-law, LaVonne Thielen of Plevna, MT; seven grandchildren, Krista, Lacey, Travis, Brent, Donovan, Rick and Tony and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ambrose Thielen and brother-in-law, Lawrence Steffes.
