She grew up on the family ranch near Grassy Butte and attended school in Grassy Butte as well as Roosevelt School in Dickinson. Phyllis worked on the family ranch for several years after she finished school. It was during this time that she met Richard “Pinky” Grayson. The two were married on May 29, 1946 in Wibaux, MT. To this union, two children were born; Phil and Phyllis. The couple eventually settled in Dickinson in 1960 and it was here where they made their home ever since. After Pinky passed away in 1988, Phyllis moved to Colorado Spring, CO and Topeka, KS to be with her daughter, Phyllis and her husband, Alvin. Phyllis loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. She was grateful to spend time with each of them. She enjoyed camping in her younger years, gardening, sewing, playing cards, and reading western novels; especially Louis L’Amour. Phyllis was a classy lady and will be greatly missed. Phyllis is survived by her son, Phil (Gerry) Grayson of Dickinson; her daughter, Phyllis (Alvin) Dvorak of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Terri (Lee) Eberts of Dickinson, Curt (Tammy) Godes of Englewood, CO, Melinda Schoch of Austin, TX, Stacy Muth of Bismarck, Eric (Lori) Dvorak of Taylor, Jason (Kjersti) Dvorak of Bismarck, and Deidra (Greg) Deemer of Colorado Springs, CO; 13 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; sister, Fern Goldsberry of Dickinson; and many nephews and nieces.
