Polly passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2012 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson.

Polly Dutchuk was born February 2, 1915 in Gorham, North Dakota, the daughter of Nick and Anna (Rouchuk) Dutchuk. She grew up in the Gorham area, attending country school for five years and working alongside her father on the family farm. As a young mother, she moved into town where her children could attend school. Polly worked at Pete’s Cafe and the Chuck Wagon in Medora. On July 4, 1965, Polly was united in marriage to Matt Doroschuk. Polly enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She especially loved to dig fresh potatoes to see how many grew in each hill. Even into her 90’s, she maintained her home in Belfield, while reluctantly staying with her daughter Vickie in Dickinson. Polly loved to travel to the West Coast to see her daughter Grace and the grandchildren. She will be remembered for cracking the walnuts from their tree and picking fruit to can and freeze. Polly grew up being very thrifty and conservative. She was an active member of the St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Polly is survived by her daughters, Vickie Keller of Dickinson and Grace Anderson of Battle Ground, WA; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one brother, Walter (Betty) Dutchuk of Bismarck; and two sisters, Rose Lowenstein of Tacoma, WA and Tillie Grey of Anchorage, AK.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Anna Dutchuk, husband, Matt Doroschuk; daughter, Dorothy Haakenson; son, Larry Dawang; brother, Eugene Dutchuk; and sisters, Mary Sapa, Stella Chruzch, Katie Haag, and Helen Haag.
