Parastas for Polly Gawryliv, 97, of Dickinson, formerly of Belfield, ND will be at 10:00 a. m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Belfield, ND with Father Taras Miles celebrating. Burial will follow at St. John?s Ukrainian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p. m. to 7 p. m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009 with a Rosary at 4 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Polly passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at St. Benedict?s Health Care Center, Dickinson, ND. Polly was born on the family farm in Billings County, ND on October 22, 1911, the daughter of Nyola and Catherine (Pedeleski) Klym. She grew up and attended country school through the eighth grade and worked on the farm helping her parents. On November 19, 1929 she married Mike Gawryliv at St. Josephat?s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Gorham, ND. They farmed in Billings County until 1957. Her husband, Mike passed away on May 30, 1957. Polly then moved to Dickinson. She worked at various jobs until she retired. She did volunteer work for various organizations and helped with Elder Care meals for 22 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and reading. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. When visiting her you never left without having a good meal or goodies to take home. Polly had a very strong relationship with the Lord and was very faithful. She was a member of St. John?s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Belfield, the VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and the Ukrainian Cultural Institute. Polly is survived by her daughter Mabel (Frank) Kulish, Manning, ND, son Michael (Nancy) Gawryliv, Bismarck, ND; seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Polly was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mike; daughter Jeanette, an infant daughter, Mary; son-in-law, Kenneth Medberry; two sisters and four brothers.
