Funeral services for Ralph Alex Jahner, 84, will be held in Dickinson, North Dakota on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Father Gene Lindeman and Father Todd Kreitinger officiating.


Prayer service will be held Thursday night, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home.


Ralph died May 5, 2012.


He was born May 27, 1927 in Hirshville, Dunn County, North Dakota. Ralph grew up on the family farm in Hershville until he was eight years old when his parents passed on. He was raised by his aunts and uncles, John and Mathilda Badinger. He left Dickinson at the age of 19, and arrived in California and Alaska. He met his wife Frances (Fritzie) M. Winczewski when he returned to Dickinson in 1949, and they were married Nov. 27, 1950. The two then returned to Adak, Alaska where their first son Michael was born. They then returned to North Dakota where Suzanne and Tom were born. His work took him to many places including Washington. While there, son Charles was born. Work took Ralph and the family to Montana, California, Arizona, Colorado, Virginia and Wyoming. Prior to retirement Ralph and Fritzie enjoyed building golf courses in Hawaii. He retired on four acres of prairie land in Glenrock,Wyoming. He kept busy planting trees, making a home for his family, and helping others. His interests included carving walking canes from diamond willow wood, cutting firewood, and hunting with his sons, returning with many wild hunting stories. Other adventures included fishing in Alaska and enjoying several cruises.


Ralph is preceded in death by his father Philip Jahner; mother Rosa Boesphflug; son Michael James Jahner, brothers Raymond and Vincent, and sisters Rose, Ann and Tillie.


He is survived by his wife of 61 years Frances (Fritzie), daughter Suzanne Rose Jahner, sons Thomas Ralph Jahner and Charles David Jahner; grandchildren Michele Smith and husband Brion, Jenifer Pritz and husband Ty, Dustin Are llano, Katie Malavic and Zach Jahner.


Memorial services will be conducted in Glenrock, WY at a later date.
