Ralph Kessel

A Funeral Mass for Ralph Kessel, 64, of Belfield, will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.


Visitation for Ralph will be from 12:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. , Monday, September 9 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass.


Ralph Fredrick Kessel entered eternal rest Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer, ND.


Ralph was born May 2, 1949 in Dickinson, the son of Philip F. and Mildred (Podlanchek) Kessel. He attended grammar school in Belfield. Ralph lived in Belfield with his parents most of his life. He enjoyed working with the Belfield Volunteer Fire Department for many years. His dream to join the Moose Lodge took place the last few months of his life. Ralph helped his brother Ray on and off for 40 years as a beekeepers helper. Ralph loved sports and the Belfield Bantams and the Heart River Cougars football and basketball teams were his favorite. He rarely missed a game. Ralph was an avid Vikings and Twins fan, hoping the Vikings would win the Super Bowl.


Ralph is survived by his siblings, Phyllis Roth of Glendive, MT, Leroy of Rapid City, SD, Valarie (Dennis) Bergman of Cincinnati, OH, Charles (Leona) of Belfield, Raymond (Cheryl) of Belfield, Larry (Jeanne) of Fargo, Allan (Jean) of Santa Fe, NM, and Thomas of Belfield.


He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Darian Kessel, Patricia Steiner, JoAnn Schroeder, Shirley Arneson, Joyce Benham, Phillip, and Vernon.
