Funeral services for Ralph R. Kitzan, age 85 of Glen Ullin will be 2:00 PM, CDT, Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Hebron with Pastor Marcy Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at the Methodist Cemetery in Hebron. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM CDT on Friday, May 8 with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM, CDT, at the First Baptist Church in Hebron. Ralph R. Kitzan was born February 7, 1924 to Rudolph and Rose (Aman) Kitzan on the family farm South of Antelope, ND. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. After schooling he went to work on the Diede farm in the Antelope area for around four years. During his time there he met Irene Swoboda and the two were later married on November 5, 1944 at the EUB Church in Hebron. To this union 10 children were born. After marriage the two farmed near Burt, ND until 1968 when Ralph purchased a farm in rural Glen Ullin. They farmed there until retirement in 1997. After retirement they moved into Glen Ullin where Ralph has made his home since. Ralph enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and playing pinochle. He enjoyed his trips to the casino with his family. He loved going to the farm and walking through the hills and picking crocuses. Ralph?s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his loving family. He loved holding hands and giving hugs with his family members. Ralph was a member of the United Methodist Church, where he served as a past council member. He also served as an election judge for many years and was a member of the Senior Citizen?s Club. Ralph passed away on May 6, 2009 at Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin, ND. Ralph is survived by his sons: James (Marian) Kitzan, Lincoln, ND, Dennis (Cindy) Kitzan, Dickinson, ND, Rudy (Nancy) Kitzan, Spokane, WA, Jeff Kitzan, Spokane, WA, Kerwin (Caren) Kitzan, Fargo, ND, Gary (Marla) Kitzan, Bismarck, ND and Dwight (Monika) Kitzan, Mandan, ND; daughters: Jeraldine Friesz and fianc? Larry Thompson, Dickinson, ND and Carol (Alvin) Mutschelknaus, Hebron, ND; a son-in-law, Tom McLaughlin, Beulah, ND; brother, Randy Kitzan, Richardton, ND, sisters-in-law: Shirley Kitzan, Richardton, ND and Rose Kitzan, Richardton, ND; 29 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Irene on January 21, 2004; daughter Vesta McLaughlin, brothers: Melvin and Clarence Kitzan, son-in-law, Eugene Friesz and a great-grandson, Tyler Friesz.
