At the age of 92, Randi Alice (Kjos) Prchal, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Eagle Cliff Manor in Billings, MT surrounded by her family.


She was born April 8, 1920 on a homestead outside of Killdeer, ND, the daughter of Anders and Randi (Eid) Kjos. Her mother died during childbirth and she was raised by her sister, Esther, and husband Christ Hanson on their farm in Killdeer. In the early years, she attended country school and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1938. Randi was raised with a strong work ethic. As a young adult she worked at Jimmy’s Sweet Shop, the post office in Killdeer, and was a nanny in upstate Michigan following graduation from high school. On August 19, 1946 Randi was united in marriage to Edward Prchal in Killdeer. In addition to her homemaking duties, Randi volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Killdeer. In 1960, the family moved to Sidney, MT where she continued her homemaker duties. In later years, she worked as a clerk in Russell’s Market and Farm and Home. Randi also volunteered at the Salvation Army and was active baking bread and with the Quilting Club at Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney. Additionally, Randi enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, baking, canning, and gardening. Finally, she loved hosting and entertaining her children and grandchildren.


Randi is survived by her eight children, Bob Prchal of Powell, WY; Doug (Tara) Prchal of Bismarck, ND; Noel Prchal of Sidney; Connie Rasmussen of Billings; Ron Prchal of Portland, OR; Curt (Diane) Prchal of Billings; Judy (Dave) DeBock of Powell; and James Prchal of Billings; six grandchildren, Christi (Erik) Erben, Michelle Rasmussen, Sarah (Jordan) Bear, Aimee DeBock, George Prchal and Dillon Prchal; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Avery and Zachary Erben, Aubrey and Desmond Bear; two sisters, Grace Ludeke and Elena Beneke; three sisters-in-law, Alice Kjos, Margie Hanson and Evelyn Hanson and one brother-in-law, Richard Prchal.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed (1993), her parents, and 8 siblings.


A special thank you to a family friend, Linda Smith, who was always there for Randi.


A memorial service will be held 11:00 a. m. Monday, July 23 at Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Killdeer, North Dakota. Burial of ashes will be in the Killdeer Cemetery.
