Funeral Mass for Raymond Jochim, 79, of Glen Ullin will be 10:00 a. m. CST, Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin with Father Arul Joseph officiating. Military Rites will be presented by the Lawrence Higbee Post # 239 of Glen Ullin. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 7, from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. CST at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p. m. CST. Raymond passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Medcenter One in Bismarck, ND. Raymond Jochim was born July 18, 1931 in Beulah, the son of Ignatius and Eva (Kohler) Jochim. He grew up and attended schools in Oliver County. In 1953, as a young man, he enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in December of 1955. He returned to the Beulah area where he began helping his parents on the family farm. He later moved to Texas where he met his wife, Janet Scherrits. They were married on November 15, 1958. To this union a daughter, Virginia, was born. Ray worked in the oilfields in Texas for sometime, later became a boilermaker and returned to North Dakota. In May of 1973, he was married to Mary Ferrell. In 1994, the couple moved to Glen Ullin where they made their home. After the death of Mary in 1999, Ray continued to make Glen Ullin his home. Ray enjoyed going out to his brother?s farm, helping with farm work and being around animals of all types. He also enjoyed socializing, trying his luck at Prairie Nights Casino and playing cards. Ray was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagles Club and American Legion Club. Ray is survived by his daughter, Virginia ?Ginger? (Larry) Marsh, New Braunfels, TX; two step-daughters, Rita Mundine, Texas and Star Bolton, Texas; two brothers, Edwin ?Ed? (Ann) Jochim, Sioux Falls, SD and Don (Norma) Jochim, Lee Summit, MO; one sister, Bernice Richter, Beulah; one sister-in-law, Violet ?Vi? Jochim, Beulah; 3 grandchildren, Kassie, Theresa and Susan and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Janet and Mary; one brother, John Jochim; and three sisters, Lucille Jochim, Clara Nesper, Elaine Veitenheimer.
