Ray passed away Friday, February 10, 2006 at his home in Dickinson. Raymond Anthony Olivares was born on January 27, 1956 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma the son of Antero and Mary Ellen (Daegle) Olivares. Raymond got to have the privilege of seeing many states in his grade school years. Among the places he traveled to were West Point, NY, Biloxi, MS, Mertle Beach, SC, Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ. There was never a dull moment in Rays? life as a child or an adult. Ray was married to Cindy Lou Christianson on June 30, 1983. Ray never had a biological child but never needed to due to the fact that he was a father figure to many. Every child that entered into his life was very special to him. He had so many bonds with his so-called adopted kids that he never missed having his own children. After marring Cindy, they, remained in Crosby, ND until 1987. Due to work shortage, Ray and Cindy moved to Phoenix until 1989. They then moved back to the Dakotas so Ray could start working in the oil patch. He worked on the rigs from 1989 to 2004, which also was the year Ray was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Ray was an avid hunter & fisherman. He loved to work with animals especially horses. It broke his heart when he had to give up his horses due to his illness. He was loved by all. Ray was rough on the outside but had the biggest heart on the inside. He was a giver and not a receiver. Ray will be truly missed by his friends and family. Survivors include, his wife, Cindy, Dickinson; his parents, Antero & Mary Olivares, Phoenix, AZ; three brothers, Tim and Michael both of Phoenix and Tom, Sparks, NV; three sisters, Teresa (Tom) Hart, Three Forks, MT, Lori Olivares and Monica Wood both of Phoenix; a special niece, Crystal Olivares, Dickinson and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, two nephews and one niece.
