A Celebration of Life Service for Rebecca Munsell, 87, of Baker, MT formerly of Big Timber, MT will be at 4:00 p. m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Rebecca W. Munsell entered into glory and held Jesus? hand on July 27, 2008, at Fallon Medical Complex. Rebecca Claire Woolsey was born May 29, 1921, the first of four children, to Graham P. and Minnie (Bennewitz) Woolsey, on the family homestead ranch on the East Boulder, south of Big Timber, Montana. Rebecca was raised on the family ranch and attended grade school at the East Boulder Country School, where her mother was often the teacher, attended high school in Big Timber and received her teaching degree at Eastern Montana Normal College in Billings, Montana. She began her teaching career at Duck Creek School in Sweet Grass County in 1941. One year later she accepted a 6th grade teaching position in Baker, where she met JK Munsell. They were married on June 18, 1944. She continued teaching until 1946 when they started their family of five and became a loving mother and homemaker. They owned and operated a meat market in Baker, sold it in 1944, and then started ranching at the French Place, 3 miles west of Baker. After the farm was sold in1954; they then built the Drive In Theatre on a retained portion of the French Place. In 1957 they built Munsell Bowling Lanes in the old Sawyers Grocery Store building in Baker. Becky was always JK?s right-hand man and worked with him day and night. After selling the drive-in in 1966, the bowling alley in 1973, and having finished raising their family, JK and Becky moved to her beloved Big Timber, Montana, to be near her family. They worked summers in Yellowstone Park for four years and enjoyed retirement, camping and fishing every chance they got with family and friends. They traveled to Mexico, Germany, France, Italy, Hudson Bay, Hawaii, Caribbean, Alaska and Canada. In the fall of 2001 they returned to live in Baker to be near their two daughters. You could find Grandma Becky home most of the time puttering with crossword puzzles, crocheting, quilting, watching her beloved birds, baking caramel rolls and bread, and cooking the BEST pan fried chicken and gravy ever for her family. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; Graham (GP) Woolsey and Minnie (Bennewitz) Woolsey, and one grandson; Eric Allen Blake. Rebecca is survived by her loving husband; JK Munsell, two daughters; both of Baker, MT, Max (Dave) Blake, Launa (Duane) Quenzer, three sons; Graham (Peggy) of Gervais, OR, Kelly (Judy) of Missoula, MT, Neil (Carolyn) of Billings, MT, 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters; Dukes Hanson of Billings, MT, Beth (Ed) Deegan of McLeod, MT, one brother; James (Beryl) Woolsey of Big Timber, MT, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rebecca, our loving wife, mother and grandmother, you will be missed and we look forward to seeing you again in glory and perfect peace. We love you.
