Reiny passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Fallon County Medical Complex in Baker, MT.
Reinhard Frank Barth was born August 17, 1934 in Regent, ND the second son of Lee and Frances (Berger) Barth. He was a part of a family of 10 brothers and sisters, growing up on a farm and attending school in the Mott/Regent area. Working in the oil field as a truck driver brought him to Baker, MT in the late 1950’s, after a short stint in the US Navy, and this is where he met Shirley Jordan. The two were married on December 27, 1961 in Glendive, MT and have made Baker their home for the last 54 years. Reiny was employed as a mechanic most of his life, working for Randash Motors and eventually as the shop foreman for Fallon County. Work was important to him and he was a dedicated employee. He taught his four children, Thomas, Timothy, Marla and Allan the value of being a good worker and how to complete the job that was started. He was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and taught CCD for over 30 years. One of the things in which he took the most pride was being the caretaker of the Church for almost 40 years. Shoveling snow, mowing grass, mopping floors, fixing and cleaning anything that needed it became his life. Reiny also worked with 4-H and Cub scouts. In 1979 Reiny studied with a friend and received his GED. He was an avid gardener and always in pursuit of the perfect tomato, enjoyed birds, and was known to shoot a pesky squirrel now and again. Reiny battled heart disease with determination until his very last day. On August 19, 2015 the war was finally over for him. He is survived by his wife Shirley; four children: Tom & Deb of Baker, MT; Tim & Karen of Hilger, MT; Marla & Don Orcutt and Allan & Trish Barth all of Baker; four brothers: Edward & Betty Barth of Dickinson, ND, Daniel & Clarce Barth of Glendive, MT, Raymond & Karen Barth of Hermitage, TN, and Bernard Barth of Chesterfield, MO; three sisters: Hilaria Schmitz of Missoula, MT, Rose Schmaltz of Bismarck, ND, and Janette & Tom Porter of Tucson, AZ; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Matthew and Kap; and granddaughter, Sarah Barth. Memorials may be given in Reiny’s name to Covenant House or Catholic Relief.
