Reinhold passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Medcenter One in Bismarck, ND. Reinhold, or as many who knew and loved him as ?Reiny?, was born on October 12, 1927, the son of Fred and Magdalena (Krueg) Straub on a farm in Fallon County. He grew up and attended the Dry Fork Country School as well as Plevna School. Reiny graduated from Baker High School in 1945. In 1946, Reiny was drafted into the army. He spent eight months in service but was honorably discharged due to serious illness and returned home to the family farm north of Plevna. Reiny met a school teacher named Violet Strobel and they were united in marriage on June 10, 1956 and would have celebrated 55 years this June. Together they made their home on the ranch 16 miles northwest of Plevna where they raised their three children, Angela, David, and Cynthia. Reiny began ranching and farming with his two brothers, Art and Herbie. He always had a dream to have a herd of registered Red Angus cattle. Together they worked and saw this dream come true. Reiny was always humbled and honored to have his only son, Dave join him on the ranch. They worked side by side for many years. Reiny always enjoyed watching Dave break and train Crago quarter-horses as well as attending their horse sale each year. In 2007, Dave had an accident which took his life and a little of Reiny was lost that day as well. He continued to oversee the ranch and never stopped worrying about different things on the ranch. Reiny lost the love of his life, Violet in 2010. Reiny spent 27 years serving on school boards with 14 years at Dry Fork and 13 years at Plevna. He also was a Soil Conservation Supervisor for 25 years. Reiny was very active in the Emanuel Evangelical Free Church, where he served on various boards and committees. Reiny leaves behind two daughters, Angie (DeLynn) Meidinger, Fallon, MT and Cindy (Wm) Coutts, Bismarck, ND; a daughter in law, Joyce Straub, Baker, MT; six grandchildren, Cody (Kathy) Meidinger, Fallon, MT, Lorianne (Chris) Klobofski, Havre, MT, Brittany Straub, Terry, MT, Jasi Johnson and Levi Johnson of Baker MT and Alex Coutts, Bismarck, ND; three great grandchildren, Ryan and the twins, Ethan & Owen; sister in laws, Rose Straub and Frieda Straub both of Baker, MT; and a former sister-in-law Viola Straub Scheutzle and her husband, Art, Plevna, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Violet; his son, Dave; four brothers, Rudy, Art, Richard and Herbie; and three sisters, Rosalia Hirning, Louise Scheuffele and Emma Wenz. Memorials may be given to the Reinhold and Violet Straub Teaching Scholarship at the Plevna High School.
