Funeral Mass for Reuben E. Buchholz, 73, of Dickinson will be on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:00 a. m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Military Honors will be provided by Dickinson Veterans Drill Team. Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Monday, May 5, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 p. m. Reuben passed away Friday, May 2, 2008, at his home with his family by his side. Reuben E. Buchholz was born April 2, 1935, in rural Elgin, ND the son of Gust and Pauline (Kost) Buchholz. He grew up and attended country schools graduating from Mott H. S. On February 14, 1956 he married Janet Zollner in Regent, ND. He served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1959, stationed in Virginia and Chinon, France. Upon returning from the military he worked in various sales fields and at St. Joseph?s Hospital in the purchasing department. His employment from 1980 until his death has been in sales for Newton Manufacturing, Newton IA. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus, serving in all offices including Grand Knight. He was also active in the 4th Degree Knights and has served as Faithful Navigator. He held various K of C committee positions, the one most dear to his heart was the position he held for nearly 25 years as the advanced ticket sales chairman for the Home on the Range Rodeo. He has been a member of the local Elks Lodge #1137 for 46 years. Reuben received many awards over the years; the one he was most proud of was the one he received this past October from the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce as Community Volunteer of the Year. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all of them. Reuben is survived by: his wife, Janet, Dickinson, ND; sons; Mark (Cora) Buchholz, Bismarck, ND and Darren (Sue) Buchholz, Dickinson, ND; grandchildren, Eric (Deni Liedholm) Buchholz, Keshia ( Dan) Holzworth, Jamie (Susan) Buchholz, Nathan Buchholz, Bryan (Kristin Wanner) Buchholz, Kristen (Walter Larson) Buchholz, Kellan Buchholz; great-grandchildren, Dezi, Keedan, Grayden, Zoe, Taya, Brooklyn, Miyah and Ashlyn; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Violet Rokusek, New Salem, ND, Lenora Metzger, Park City, MT, Rosie Bussman, Tucson, AZ, Janice Froelich, Brookings, SD, Marge (Jose) Pimental, Portland, OR, Carol (Stan) Freidt, Rapid City, SD; brothers Marvin (Berna) Buchholz, Bismarck, ND and Dennis (Pam) Buchholz, New Salem, ND. He was preceded in death by: his parents, brother, Les Buchholz and sister, Irene Jewel. Memorials may be given to Home on the Range, Knights of Columbus Foundation or a charity of ones choice.
