Richard passed away August 14, 2022 at Wibaux County Nursing Home.
Richard was born to Stanley and Mary (Peplinski) Efta at the family homestead in Wibaux County on September 29, 1931. He was raised in the country where he established his love for farming and ranching. He and his siblings attended elementary school at Quale Country School a few miles from the farm then graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Miles City. After high school Richard chose to attend and achieved a degree from Montana State University. The pull of the farming and ranching life brought Richard back to the family farm in Wibaux. He spent all but the last ten years doing what he loved on the ranch. Ten years ago after some health issues Richard moved to the Manner in Beach, ND, later coming back to live the remainder of his days at Wibaux County Nursing Home.
Richard was a self- proclaimed bachelor, always enjoyed with his own company. He was greatly fulfilled by living the life of a farmer and rancher. When with family, neighbors and friends he couldn’t turn down a good card game. A life-long learner Richard spent much of his time reading.
Richard is survived by his sister, Cecelia Pass; sister-in-law, Elsie Efta; brother-in-law, Tony Mitzel; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary Efta; sisters, Lousie Nagel (Nagle), Leona, and Roseline; brother, Leo Efta
