Richard passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Richard D. Fisher was born May 16, 1927 in Mandan, ND to Fred and Helen (Rychlik) Fisher. He grew up and attended Harmon school and graduated from Mandan High School in 1945. In 1948 Richard joined the Army National Guard’s and served until he was honorably discharged in 1951. On June 14, 1950, Richard and Martha Emineth were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan, ND. To this union two children were born. The couple made Mandan their home where Richard worked for Northern Pacific Railroad. The family later moved to Dickinson, ND in 1966 and made Dickinson their home until recently moving to Fargo, ND. Richard lived life always with a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye. He was proud of his Czech heritage and was always a farm boy at heart. His career as a railroad engineer started early as he and his dog would often sneak off to watch the trains pass by. Richard was a kind and giving man. He was always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed reminiscing about his farming and railroading days. His collection of model tractors, railroad memorabilia and his 62 Mercury reflected his pride in a job well done. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Elk’s and Eagle’s Lodge, Czech Club, AARP and Dakota Western Auto Club. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His happiest times were those spent with family and friends and he will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife, Martha; daughter, Jeanette (Clark) Enebo, West Fargo, ND; son, Robert (Jane) Fisher, Holmen, WI; four grandchildren, Amanda (Bryan) DeMaine and their 2 children, Addison and Rylie, Sartell, MN; Jay (Kelly) Enebo, Harrisburg, SD; Stephen Fisher, Milwaukee, WI; Jonathan Fisher, LaCrosse, WI; sister, Irene Johnson, Boca Raton, FL.
